In partnership with Sexual Violence Services of Ramsey County (SOS), Standpoint offers direct services to victims/survivors of non–intimate-partner sexual violence. Upon receiving a Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) grant, we hired an attorney to represent clients in an array of cases as well as two advocates who provide numerous layers of support to clients. The attorney provides guidance, advice, and representation around any issues stemming from sexual violence. The advocates help clients connect with and navigate services within the community. They also help clients write petitions for harassment restraining orders and orders for protection and may assist them with housing issues in a variety of ways. They provide emotional support tailored to each client's needs. Together, the attorney and the advocates work on cases encompassing criminal law, employment law, family law, immigration law, housing, education, and more.
